Cactus has been asked over the past few years for MLC NAND based Flash Storage Devices which could meet an Industrial Operating Temperature range of -40C to +85C. After significant efforts in R&D, we’ve developed a production screening process which allows us to offer extended temperature using MLC NAND on select products.

The latest generation of NAND flash brings higher capacity and performance at a lower cost, it also can bring some challenges such as lower endurance cycles, higher error rates and cell to cell coupling effects which bring down reliability. Thorough testing is important for your OEM application.

With SATA flash storage devices becoming the norm for SSDs in the client PC and enterprise market segment, many design engineers are considering these for their Embedded OEM systems. This article takes a look at several SATA solutions which are available and also some key points which should be taken into consideration when deciding which SATA device to use.

It’s interesting to look at applications that use Industrial Grade Flash Storage to operate in harsh environments. While end users of this outdoor application are not the main target of the Cactus Industrial Grade Flash Storage products, it demonstrates a year round requirement of functionality in all types of weather.

Cactus continues to be mentioned in the press regarding our Industrial Grade and Locked-BOM Industrial MLC Flash Storage Devices. The two most recent press items are below: Embedded Computing Design published the following Blog Post by Steve Larrivee, Cactus VP Sales & Marketing. The Blog Post covers the significant differences in endurance and error rates...

Need a physical write protect solution on a SD Card which will allow normal use when disabled and never allow data to be written when enabled? Well, DON’T consider the SD card’s write protect switch since it does NOT do this. Not even Industrial SD Cards will allow guaranteed cross platform write protect since it is subject...

The embedded computers by Syslogic are used wherever conditions are particularly difficult. Whether it be in web applications, in traffic control systems or in tunnel construction. Since the best embedded computer is useless if the built-in memory fails, Syslogic primarily relies on SSD (solid state drive) by Cactus Technologies.Salt-carrying air, oil or dust, extreme temperature...

A Solid State Drive, whether Industrial, Commercial or Consumer Grade, is only as reliable as its overall system design and architecture. A key part of a SSD system is its controller. A poorly designed controller architecture and/or firmware algorithms can eliminate the advantages of the most reliable SLC NAND memory. Let’s take a look at...

For a long time, Industrial Grade flash storage products were considered anything made with SLC NAND. But as the generations of newer geometry SLC NAND arrive in the market, there are significant differences in reliability. Cactus Technologies focuses our efforts on the 43nm and 32nm SLC NAND. The larger the trace width, the more area...

At Embedded World 2016 in Nuremberg, Germany, Cactus Technologies displayed the high reliability Industrial Grade Flash Storage Devices which have earned a best in class reputation and launched several new embedded flash storage products. All products offer a locked-BOM (Bill-Of-Material) signifying there will be no changes to controller, memory or firmware without notification to the...
