Cactus Technologies, Ltd. Introduces Innovative SDChip - SD-Interface BGA Module

Cactus Technologies, Ltd. today introduced an innovative new product called SDChip. The SDChip is a BGA Module with SD Interface designed to be soldered as a component for customers in the Industrial embedded marketplace.

“The Industrial SDChip gives customers the ability to solder SD Interfaced Industrial Flash Storage directly to their circuit boards, thereby eliminating any potential concerns of pin bounce with the SD connectors in high shock and vibration environments. The SDChip Industrial Feature Set along with support of the standard SD commands makes this the ideal component for Industrial customers designing embedded computing systems,” remarked Sai-Ying Ng, President of Cactus Technologies Ltd.

The 21 x 23mm BGA packaged SDChip is available in capacities from 128MB – 4GB1 of storage. It has a high performance SD interface, with BOM Control and long life cycles, >2 Million endurance cycles per block, industry leading Industrial ECC, Wear Leveling and Defect Mgmt, Altitude spec of 100K feet, flash power down and write abort protection and a 4 Million hour MTBF.

Joseph Chang, Vice President of Engineering, commented, "The SLC SDChip allows customers to solder an Industrial SD solution to the board and gain the benefits of small footprint without the need for the SD connector. Product Manuals and Application Notes are available at our web site. We are ready to assist as needed in your design efforts.”
