Cactus Technologies Launches New 240 Series MLC CompactFlash & SD Cards

Cactus Technologies today announced the launch of the new 240 Series Industrial MLC CompactFlash and SD Cards which have ~30% improvement in seq. read and 50% improvement in seq. write than the current 220 Series products.

Both the 240 Series CF and SD Cards are based on the latest MLC NAND flash and designed to CompactFlash and SD Association standards respectively. The 240 CompactFlash is offered in capacities from 4GB to 256GB. The 240 SD Card from 4GB to 128GB.

These fast and reliable MLC NAND flash storage devices have Locked BOM Control, High Performance, Rugged Construction and advanced Wear Leveling, ECC and Defect Management.

Product Change Notification to the OEM of any design changes in the controller, memory or firmware is a standard Cactus policy. For more details, please contact a Cactus representative.

Sai-Ying Ng, President of Cactus Technologies said, “The new 240 Series CF and SD cards are high performance flash storage devices and perfect for embedded solid state storage applications which do not require the extreme reliability of our leading Industrial Grade flash storage products.”

Cactus 240 Series MLC CompactFlash offers the following features:

  • Industry Standard Compact Flash type I form factor
  • 4GB to 256GB Capacities
  • Supports TrueIDE Mode and ATA PIO Mode 0-6
  • Supports Multiword DMA Mode 0-4 and UDMA Mode 0-7
  • Sustained Read - 80MB/s; Sustained Write - 65MB/s
  • Locked BOM (Bill-Of-Material) Control
  • 200K Hour Mean Time Between Failure
  • 3000G Shock; 30G Vibration
  • Based on MLC (Multi Level Cell) NAND Memory

Cactus 240 Series MLC SD Card offers the following features:

  • Industry Standard SD Card form factor
  • 4GB to 128GB Capacities
  • Sustained Read - 80MB/s; Sustained Write - 40MB/s
  • Locked BOM (Bill-Of-Material) Control
  • 200K Hour Mean Time Between Failure
  • Based on MLC (Multi Level Cell) NAND Memory

Joseph Chang, Vice President of Engineering, said, "OEMs with light read applications may not require the high endurance or superior specifications of our Industrial Grade offering. In these cases, the 240 Series CF & SD cards will meet the requirements for their application at a fraction of the cost.”
